Consular Guide to Renounciation

Thinking about renouncing your US citizenship? Obviously, it’s a very drastic step and needs to be done after careful consideration. But if you think you may be interested, there are some great resources for you online.

User Schubert from the ExpatForum recently posted about the guide from the US Department of State Foreign Affairs Manual, which explains the entire process of renunciation from the consulate perspective.

Some are advising that renouncers print off the guide and bring it with them as they interact with their embassy as many embassy employees (even consular officers) are not familiar with renunciation protocol.
